05/29/2005: "Recap"
It's been a fun few days here, let me bring you up to speed.
Thursday--Richard had an early morning (5:30am, East Mesa) and when he came back to drop off his gear and change clothes we had the chance to sit and talk for a little while. I had book club that evening, discussing "All Moms Go To Heaven" It was a nice chance to bond with other women, not all mothers, talking, eating, and supporting each other.
Friday--Duncan was invited to spend the night at a friend's house and be his guest at a local amusement park on Saturday to celebrate his friend's birthday. He picked out a box of Star Wars Cereal for a gift which turned out to be more highly prized than I had anticipated =) We dropped him off and came home to eat dinner with Richard. We decided to check out the Sprouts Farmers Market, purchase some of their ad specials for a Memorial Day at home, and then made a quick trip to Albertson's for their corn sale. We also picked up a spray bottle for the peppermint ant deterrent we made, as ants are coming up in strange places like the bathrooms. It really works--yay! We played and laughed together with our girls that night, it was very nice.
Saturday--Cheanna was invited to a birthday party at the Rio Vista Communtity park so we all drove up together and let Emma and Elena play on the playground for a while. Then we went to a Salvation Army thrift store nearby that has a boutique inside with some very very nice items that I wanted Richard to see, particularly since he's been looking at saving up for a leather jacket. They had a sale going where all clothes and shoes were $1 and then at the register you drew a coupon for an additional % off, from 10-75%, so the clothing and shoes would be at most ninety cents. We found some adorable baby boy clothes, a couple of pairs of pants for Duncan, and some outfits for Emma and Elena. Richard found some great pants and 5 pairs of shoes suitable for work/church; I ended up with two pairs of shoes myself. We napped a little at home, made Watergate Salad and went to pick up Duncan and have dinner with the family. They requested we bring and play Apples to Apples with them, and introduced them to The Farming Game. Their families are both in the Spokane area right now, so it was kind of fun for them to recognize some of the names in the game.
Sunday--I awoke with a great deal of pain in my right leg. I've been having trouble with that hip lately, I start limping if I run or after walking for a while. Movement of any kind was exhausting and excruciating so I stayed home from church. I've spent most of the day in bed, and have been up for only short periods of time. It feels really stiff right now with a dull ache, so I walk funny but with considerably less pain than I had at the beginning of the day. We'll see what tomorrow brings =)
Love, Moi
